RE: General Gig Discussion

...Is this thread slowly turning into me talking to myself? Yes.

Anyway I saw Katatonia and Swallow the Sun tonight, I'd forgotten how good Swallow the Sun are live... they were better than Katatonia in fact, who sound a lot less polished than on record haha. But I suppose that's sort of inevitable. They were considerably heavier live though!

Akerwilly on Sundayyyyy

I'm seeing Dark Funeral and Okiecokie on Friday. Have a ticket for the Arse Enema, Sabbat, Enslaved, Chthonic gig next month and I'm planning on going to Cathedral as well. Also need to remember to book time off from work so I can go and see Esoteric in London in May...

Went and saw As I Lay Dying with Dropsaw and The Storm Picturesque last Thursday.
The Storm Picturesque weren't too bad, and they were pretty good live.
I hate Dropsaw with a passion, so I didn't exactly enjoy that point.
As I Lay Dying were amazing. I was in the mosh at the front for about half their set, but I went to make sure my mate was okay since everyone else was in the pit.

Afterwards we hung around and waited at the stage door, and we met Tim Lambesis and Nick Hipa. They were both really cool, and we got photos and stuff.

T'was a good night :D

Lots of gigs coming up for me soon, Cathedral, Church of Misery and The Gates Of Slumber (assuming TGoS have made it across from America by then!) up next with Ragnarok, Negura Bunget and Burial the day after and Arch Enemy, Sabbat, Enslaved and Chthonic a couple of days after that. Must try and remain slightly more sober than I did at the Napalm Death gig last Friday for those... dear lord was I drunk at that one, could barely even speak by the end of the night! biggrin

Dying Fetus and Origin and some other cool bands on Friday.

Then Bolt Thrower in London. Then Hammerfall possibly. Then Bolt Thrower again. Then possibly Gama Bomb. And Anathema in London later in the month of May too.

Cathedral gig was tip-top, looking forward to Ragnarok/Negura Bunget tomorrow now.

Arse Enema can **** off, The Gates Of Slumber made it about 10 times as far for a tour that started earlier without any problems from the volcano, flimsy excuse for postponing a tour if ever I heard one!

Ah, Negura Bunget, the Pink Floyd of folk metal.

They were great, particularly enjoyed the plank solo biggrin

Ragnarok were really cool too (once they'd gotten over their initial sound problems), proper old-school punky black metal - with a fat bass player who looked like a panda biggrin

I've only seen Negura Bunget once, when we supported them up in Glasgow, but i was too drunk and excited to appreciate them properly i think... i'd like to see them again and pay proper attention lick.gif

Got to see As I Lay Dying a few weeks back in the local metal pub. They had two local bands supporting them, one of which I have an undying hatred for, Dropsaw, but The Storm Picturesque aren't too bad.
As I Lay Dying were absolutely amazing and I was up the front for mostly the whole time, but I went back to look for my mate in the last few songs. Got a cheap shirt, as well as meeting the front man and one of the guitarists after the show.

T'was a good night :D

Dropsaw, no wonder you hate them, their name is gash! haha

I wouldn't mind seeing AILD live, need to check out their latest album properly.
